Inspiring Curiosity in the Next Generation

Sometimes the best way to share what you do is a real, hands-on experience. When Greg’s son asked his father to tell his classmates about his job, Greg jumped at the chance. With Schenk’s support, he brought his tractor unit along to his son’s primary school and told the class all about his profession — and why he’s so passionate about it.

The children’s enthusiasm was infectious. With many more pupils taking part than anticipated, what was meant to be two short presentations quickly became two hours of questions, storytelling and a real-life demonstration.

And no visit is complete without a little something to take home. The team brought along a special Schenk tractor-combination colouring sheet for the children, which was a big hit, just like the customised Schenk baseball caps.

All eyes on the tractor unit

It will come as no surprise that the tractor unit was the absolute highlight for the children. For many, it was the first time they’d ever stood so close to such a big vehicle — and the wonder on their faces said it all. Standing beside the tractor unit gave the children a real sense of just how large these vehicles are, and why safety — both around the tractor unit and on the road — matters so much.

Passion is contagious

But what stood out most wasn’t the truck — it was Greg’s enthusiasm. Despite joining Schenk only two months ago, he spoke about his work with genuine pride and energy, backed by years of experience as a professional driver.

The most important message of the day was just that: how rewarding it can be to do work you’re truly passionate about. Through his story, Greg showed how much enjoyment, pride and satisfaction he gets from his job. And who knows? He may well have inspired a few of the children to think about what they would love to do in the future. That, above all, is what made the day so special for him.
