Schenk UK Ltd formally known as Suttons Tankers are an innovative national tanker haulage business, that operates a nationwide road tanker fleet which has been successfully serving the chemicals, gas, fuels, waste, and powders sectors for over 60 years, and is the largest chemical transporter in the UK.

The Role:

We are looking for a dynamic and result driven commercial manager to lead the business growth in UK and Ireland. The commercial manager will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies (go-to market plan), management of key client customers and identify and win new business to maximize revenue and profitability.

​Schenk Intermodal has the strong ambition to grow in UK (and IRE) together with the existing SCHENK UK organization and facilities.

You will report to the General Manager based in Papendrecht, The Netherlands. You will be based in one of our UK offices, preferably Widnes.

Schenk Intermodal already has foothold in the UK industry and these accounts will be managed by you from this base.

SCHENK UK has a large customer base in road transportation of Chemicals and Gas, to whom we can now offer an Intermodal solution as well. You will contact existing customer and offer Intermodal solutions, as well as prospects in the gas and chemical market. The Home base Schenk intermodal in Papendrecht will support you with technical and operational know-how.

Together with the General Manager Schenk Intermodal you will work on a target driven sales plan to develop the activities in UK and IRE.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new Intermodal opportunities together with UK commercial team
  • Convert opportunities to business wins to accelerate profitable growth
  • Maintain and build relationship with current Intermodal customers in the area
  • Contact new prospects for intermodal and deep-sea transportation
  • Calculating routings for optimisation
  • Presenting transport proposals
  • Implementing new business
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a commercial role. Proven track record of success in sales and commercial management roles,
  • Proven sales record in logistics
  • Proven experience and understanding of the chemicals and/or gas industry
  • Commercial mindset
  • Knowledge of intermodal
  • Prepared to travel
  • Professional.
