All-round Tank Container Mechanic

Are you a skilled technician with a passion for working on specialized equipment? At Schenk Intermodal, we are looking for an All-round Tank Container Mechanic to join our team. You’ll be working in a modern workshop on a unique fleet of over 1,000 tank containers used for LNG, cryogenic gases, and various liquids. No two days are the same, and your work directly contributes to the safety and reliability of our equipment.

What does the job involve?

You’ll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and modifying a wide range of tank containers. Working with different techniques and materials such as stainless steel and aluminum, you’ll ensure all containers meet the highest safety and quality standards. You’ll be part of a small, close-knit team within a flat organizational structure where direct communication and collaboration are key.

Your main tasks:

  • Performing maintenance and repair work on tank containers, including welding tasks (TIG/MIG/MAG)
  • Assembling and disassembling valves, flanges, and gaskets
  • Conducting pressure tests and other safety checks
  • Modifying and overhauling container frames and fittings
  • Collaborating with colleagues to keep the workshop safe and efficient

What do you bring?

  • Completed technical or metalworking education
  • Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with tank containers
  • Welding certification (TIG/MIG/MAG) or willingness to obtain one
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials is a plus
  • A proactive, flexible, and precise work ethic
  • A team player with a hands-on mentality and an eye for quality
