The role:
We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our finance team in Widnes. This full-time, Monday-to-Friday role will involve preparing profit and loss statements for specific sectors, supporting and attending customer meetings, and managing key reconciliations for the Schenk UK business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly and weekly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis.
  • Present financial reports to senior management as required.
  • Maintain balance sheet control, including monthly reconciliations for selected accounts.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc management information.
  • Business partner key stakeholders
  • Handle internal cost allocation recharges to ensure accurate performance reporting across depots, regions, contracts, and sectors.
  • Produce financial data for open-book contracts.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for designated areas.
  • Manage finance outputs from operational systems for sales invoicing and costings.
  • Oversee reconciliations for fuel, mileage, and fleet.
  • Track vehicle and tanker movements across the business and produce weekly fleet reports.
  • Generate key performance indicators (KPIs) for various operational areas.
  • Raise and receipt purchase orders for selected costs.

What we require:

  • Fully or part-qualified CIMA, ACCA, or ACA accountant.
  • Previous experience in a similar finance role, preferably within the logistics or transport industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyse large data sets.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • A proactive team player with a flexible approach to work.
  • A quick learner who is comfortable with new systems and processes.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to challenge and influence operational teams.
  • A problem solver who can identify inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and support implementation.
  • Hands-on approach, comfortable working beyond spreadsheets to engage with operational teams.
  • Ability to translate financial information for a non-finance audience.
